GNOME VS KDE again updated!
http://beranger.org/index.php?fullarticle=2191
reading the articles makes me feel the wars still hot
personal experience..my experience using linux at the first time
using RH7.0(maybe 5-6 years ago), I choose KDE over GNOME because the appearance looks more windows
and the digital clock also in the taskbar looks cool.
but in the running time, to make linux appearance better, including for enabling antialiasing font,
it’s very hard to use with KDE, KDE control panel works terrible, my fonts even look very ugly
somehow the switch tick between using antialiasing font or not, causing my font looks cripples..
so what I do when this situation occurs is, delete all .kde .qt directory that holding the configuration for KDE
that’s very annoying for me in that time…
that’s funny reason, when ppl who used KDE reading this..:) haha2x..
switching to GNOME till now..
Graham, in his self-imposed exile in GNOME land (using Ubuntu):
«The modern GNOME desktop looks significantly more refined than the KDE desktop.»
but some tips I got from the articles:
1. Ctrl+H to enable/disable hidden files in nautilus
2. Nautilus has protocol ssh://user@hostname for managing file, this works like SSH Secure Client for windows that have sftp protocol
ps:
currently Zod (Fedora Core 6) and Ubuntu 6.10 sits well in my laptop Compaq X1217:)
all of it running GNOME, but thinks I will try KDE, it’s worth to try, to feel what ppl said all the good thing about KDE…
